The GHG quota, also known as the "greenhouse gas reduction quota," is a financial incentive for owners of electric vehicles in Germany. It is intended to promote the use of energy from renewable sources and thus reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
The GHG quota is calculated using the CO2 emission savings of an electric vehicle. The CO2 emission savings are determined by comparing the CO2 emissions of an electric vehicle with the CO2 emissions of a comparable gasoline or diesel vehicle. It is not important that the savings are actually realized. For the comparison, the Ministry of the Environment estimates the electricity consumption of an electric vehicle. These values are reviewed annually by the ministry.
The GHG quota is available to owners of fully electric electric vehicles registered in Germany. However, the vehicle must have been registered after January 1, 2020.
To apply for the GHG quota, you will need to contact a service provider that specializes in marketing GHG quotas. The service provider needs proof that you are the owner of the electric vehicle. You can provide this proof by sending a copy of the vehicle registration to the service provider.
Once the service provider has received the proof of ownership, they will apply and market the GHG quota on your behalf.
Geld für eAuto, Quotlix and MyGreenCashback are three German companies that offer bonuses to owners of electric vehicles who sell their GHG quotas through them.
To sell your GHG quota through Money for eAuto or Quotlix, you will need to create an account on their website and provide information about your electric vehicle. Once your account is approved, you can put your GHG quota up for sale.
The service provider will then find a buyer for your GHG quota and negotiate the best price on your behalf. Once a sale is agreed upon, you will receive your bonus payment.
